Deschutes Series Capacities* shown are estimates only for typical uses. The capacities are given as a a range such as "3/4". The smaller number would be in heavier water conditions or when loaded with a lot of gear such as a multi-day camping float. The higher numbers would apply to still water (such as small lakes and ponds) or light river conditions (such as most Western trout rivers) or with minimal gear loads such as for a day trip. Practical capacities and loads are greatly dependent on the experience of the operator and how much energy they feel capable of applying to the oars to handle the boat during a day on the water. The greater the load and water speed the more muscle energy will be required. After a few trips under different conditions you'll develop a feeling for what you can comfortably handle. If you are new to handling a river boat, start out conservatively with lighter loads on ponds or small lakes. Build up gradually to rivers and faster water.
Blue Water Series Cataraft Packages. Catarafts set up with motor transoms and bow splash panels for outboard motor power with a lighter weight and lower cost backup oar system.

Blue Water Series HP Ratings* shown are the maximum sizes I estimate would be adequate for that size boat. Larger motors will just add excess weight with little or no increase in performance. Since double-ended river cataraft hull shapes such as these do not plane you can go for a smaller HP motor than the sizes listed without much difference in speed. I recommend test driving the cataraft with the size motor you intend to use and using the smallest motor practical to reduce weight and cost.
Cataraft hulls such as these do not plane because the tube up-sweep at the stern creates a low pressure area that prevents the boat from reaching planing speeds - so there's no need for the power necessary to get the boat up on plane.

About Our Cataraft Packages
Package prices for both the Deschutes and Blue Water Series do not include accessory items. Those are listed on the Accessories page. Especially, see the seats or anchors pages for a discussion of how these items may apply to your needs.
Package prices do not include shipping or applicable taxes. You can pick up your cataraft here on Washington's Olympic Peninsula if you like and save shipping expenses. If you want to plan some fishing for your trip we can even have your boat assembled and ready to load onto your trailer.
We can ship by air, truck, by sea, Fedex or UPS or by any carrier you request. Most customers have us choose the most practical and economical carrier (usually Fedex or UPS) once the boat has been packed, weighed and is ready to ship. Once we receive final payment the cataraft becomes your property. At that point we act as your shipping agent and charge you only for actual shipping expenses incurred. For example, for shipping to Alaska we usually use Pacific Alaska Freightways. Their barges typically take 4 or 5 days from Seattle leaving twice weekly. You can pick up your cataraft at their terminal or they'll deliver it to your location in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kenai, Kodiak & Southeast Alaska. See shipping details here.
We provide you with an itemized quote for your approval before proceeding with your order.
Note that River Kingtm cataraft frames can be ordered in two foot segments to fit almost any flat top tube (when viewed from the side). Order frame length at least 6 feet shorter than tube length - so that at least 3 feet of tube at each end is not covered by the frame. Call to be sure we can match your tubes. We'll need to know the diameter of your fully inflated tubes.
We can also provide you with the NRS tubes alone if you don't need the frame. Our tube prices are listed above. Tubes come with maintenance kit and full NRS warranty.
